Mary Whyte - Watercolor Artist and Memorial Day

Recently, I was juried into the Western Federation of Watercolor Society spring show. It took place in Grapevine Texas. The juror was Mary Whyte.

If You don’t know who Mary Whyte is, she is an incredible watercolor artist that teaches and displays her work worldwide. She is known as an American figurative artist and is known internationally for her watercolors of contemporary people.

I’m writing this blog on Memorial day. And while I think of all of the veterans who served our country, I am also thinking about how Mary Whyte visited all 50 states and painted watercolors of veteran’s from all walks of life. It took her 7 years to complete the project. It is entitled “We the People”.

The show is currently at the National Museum of the United States Army until July 14th, 2023

To say that I was honored to be chosen by her to display my painting of “Three Sisters”, is an understatement.

I need to take a Mary Whyte workshop!

Thank you for reading my blog.
